Concentrations

Students who are interested in pursuing graduate school or who desire a more in-depth focus in a specific area are encouraged to take courses in addition to their major courses from the following concentrations.

Public History Concentration

Only one course may count toward the major and the concentration.

Understanding history is not enough for those who wish to further understand Public History. History often "lives" in public spaces, whether that be a local landmark, national park, or the internet. At Dominican University, the History major with a concentration in Public History prepares students for careers, graduate work, and provides a depth of understanding in the best practices and methods of this growing field.
