OT 5101 Health Policy, Leadership and Mangement in Occupational Therapy
This course is designed to provide students with an introduction to health policy, leadership, and management knowledge and skills relevant for entry-level administration and management in occupational therapy. Social, economic and political forces and policies impacting health care in general and OT services in particular will be examined. Reimbursement trends and issues will be studied in detail, with particular emphasis on Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care systems. Other pertinent professional issues to be covered in the course content include departmental time and fiscal management, administrative documentation and communication, program assessment, accreditation and licensure, supervision, professional ethics, and standards of OT practice. - 3 lecture hours.
Prerequisite: Acceptance into the accelerated MS in OT program.
