PHI 248 PHILOSOPHY OF AI
What is artificial intelligence (AI), and how do we assess AI systems for understanding, reason, or creativity? What new ethical risks emerge from the potential for AI to (among other things) recognize faces, collect and sort information, and create art? How should we balance those risks with AI's potential for improving our lives? This course explores the relationship between AI and topics such as consciousness, language meaning and understanding, democracy and misinformation, and the environmental impact of technological development.
