GOV 375 CHILDREN, WAR, AND PEACE

This course examines the many ways that living in militarized societies, including in countries actively at war, impacts young people. Topics include how international law can be applied to this topic, the recruitment and uses of child soldiers, a gendered perspective on war, child refugees, post-conflict healing and reintegration, post-conflict justice and reconciliation, the impact of war on children, and child as peacemakers. The course focuses primarily on Sub-Saharan African cases.
