FYS 1114 SOCIETY AND YOU
An introduction to sociological concepts that teaches students to move beyond an individualistic lens for analyzing social problems and one's place in society. Students will actively connect news stories, media, social media trends to sociological concepts in order to better understand their lives. Topics covered include: socialization, Disney movies and depictions of race and gender in mass media, consumerism, why good people do bad things, bureaucracies, conformity and obedience, among others.
