MUS 233 CC: GAGA FEMINISM
This course explores pop music through feminist and queer theory. Beginning with Lady Gaga, whose persona helped reimagine celebrity, performance, and gender, it considers artists like Chappell Roan and Charli XCX, situating their music within broader cultural debates. Students will analyze videos, lyrics, and fan cultures, asking how these artists challenge norms, redefine femininity and queerness, and contribute to discussions of identity, spectacle, and resistance.
