ARA 325 ARABIC POETRY AND LITERATURE

This writing course offers a comprehensive exploration of Arabic poetry and literature, tracing their development from the pre-Islamic period (Jahiliyya) to the modern era. Students will engage with the rich literary heritage of Arabic verse and prose, examining their themes, forms, and cultural significance across different historical periods. The course also highlights the transformation of classical and modern Arabic poems into musical compositions, particularly in the 20th and 21st centuries, where many works have been popularized.
