JLI 201 Foundations in Social Justice & Community Action

This course is designed for Central students who have been accepted into the JLI Scholar program. The Scholar program aims to cultivate students' understanding of the roots of injustice, while also fostering and nurturing efforts to eliminate it. JLI 201 introduces students to core concepts and issues of social justice, as well as to the principles and strategies of community and civic action. Each semester, the course is built around a particular social justice theme or issue. In addition to learning key concepts and principles, students will hear from and build connections with community leaders and activists across Connecticut. This course seeks to lay the groundwork to help participants develop as social justice leaders and advocates who fully engage in public service. May be taken for up to 6 credits.
