ANTH 130 Introduction to Medical Anthropology

Medical anthropology examines how health, illness, and healing are shaped by culture, power, and lived experience. In this course, students are introduced to key concepts in the anthropological study of health and medicine. Through ethnographic case studies and critical discussion, students will investigate how global and local forces influence care, inequality, and well-being. This course will explore foundational texts in Medical Anthropology as a field and Anthropology’s contribution to our understanding of health and the body.
