EDUC 4905 Teaching Apprenticeship

This course is the last course in the professional development sequence required for Texas teacher certification. Candidates must attend teacher in-service meetings, faculty meetings, as well as all other required meetings and/or extracurricular events required by the mentor teacher and/or the school administration. Placements are assigned by the Field Placement Coordinator and the Director of Teacher Education. Because of the scheduling differences between Texas school calendars and the UIW calendar, students will be required to begin/end this course at times not coinciding with the UIW schedule.

This course is completed in conjunction with the Apprenticeship Seminar in the last semester of the professional development sequence required for Texas teacher certification. In collaboration with the campus mentor teachers and the university supervisor, candidates will engage in an examination and analysis of teaching practices and professional expectations. Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate proficiency in effective instructional design and delivery, classroom management, professional communication, and ongoing professional development.
