AHI 231 CABINET OF CURIOSITIES

Like an Early Modern cabinet of curiosities, this course showcases the strange, offbeat, and downright weird aspects of Renaissance art. Students will explore the darkened corners of a period to which popular art history has applied a deceptively normative gloss, and will discuss topics that include the depiction of monsters, demons, giants, witches, and societal outcasts.
