PHY 108 GENERAL PHYSICS

An algebra-based introduction to the foundations of physics. Areas of study include classical physics (mechanics, thermodynamics, electricity and magnetism, optics) and selected topics in modern physics.

Notes

Three hours of lecture and discussion per week; three hours of laboratory per week. Knowledge of algebra and trigonometry is assumed. Either PHY 107 or PHY 109 is a prerequisite for PHY 108. Students may only receive credit for one set of introductory physics courses either PHY 107, PHY 108 or PHY 109, PHY 110. Potential physics majors should enroll in PHY 109, PHY 110 rather than PHY 107, PHY 108.

Corequisite

Registration is also required in PHY 107L, PHY 108L.
