LA 104 MEDIA, CULTURE, AND YOU

A first-year seminar exploration of contemporary media across cultures and the ways in which the individual interacts and interfaces with global media technologies and outlets for incoming transfer students. This course specifically examines the global flows of ideas, ideologies and creativities along with the local and global politics and histories that shape them. The course will also explore how individual positionality impacts the reception and communication of mediated events and knowledge. Students will learn critical media literacy and gain introductory knowledge of media studies and global studies.
