JS 261 REASON AND REVELATION

How do reason and revelation relate to each other? An examination of the encounter between Greek philosophy’s claim to the authority of reason and the Hebrew Bible’s to revelation. The conflict between and overlapping of the claims will be explored as the root of the vitality of Western thought and religions. Among the authors and books considered are Plato, Aristotle, Philo, and the Bible.
