HIS 273 NATIONS/NATIONALISM, 19C EUROP

An examination of how Europe’s revolutions between 1789 and 1914 helped shape many of the unified nation-states we know today, including Italy, France, and Germany. The course explores theories on nationalism to understand how these nation-states developed and how people grew to accept the idea of the nation. Students will look at education, religion, domesticity, and imperial expansion to see how the nation was constructed.
