GWS 231 DISABILITY JUSTICE

The course explores Disability Justice as a framework that examines how disability and ableism relate to other forms of oppression and are shaped by differential power and privilege applied to bodies that give them meaning. Topics may include biomedical interventions to "prevent" disability; war, violence, and militarization and their contributions to producing disabled and chronically ill bodies; the politics of "disfigurement" and repair; the politics of "madness.”
