FYS 1067 (TRANS)NATIONAL ITALY

An examination of topics such as youth culture, migration and diaspora, environmental issues, the body, technology and the new sciences through literature, film, music, art, historical accounts, sociological and theoretical works. Focus on texts from various Italophone communities with sporadic comparisons with texts on similar topics from other linguistic communities. Authors, filmmakers, musicians and artists may include Italo Calvino, Francesca Archibugi, Claudia Durastanti, Igiaba Scego, Amara Lakhous, Ludovico Einaudi, Marisa Merz, and Maurizio Cattelan.
