FYS 1055 AS THE ROMANS SAY

An introduction to Latin language and the culture of ancient Rome.  Students will explore the basics of the Latin language and apply their knowledge to translating and writing about objects and texts from the Roman world.  Topics include ancient coins, tombstones, building inscriptions, and poems.  Discussions will explore how and why Latin became a world language and changed from ancient to modern times.

No prior knowledge of Latin is required; students will receive WLC credit and be prepared to enroll in LAT 102 in the spring.
