FYS 1045 REFUGEES: LAW, POL, REPRESENT

Refugees:  Law, Politics, Representations.  The number of people forcibly displaced is at the highest level ever recorded:  82.4 million worldwide, among them nearly 30 million refugees and asylum seekers. This course introduces students to international refugee law and politics as well as the current situation of refugees in Europe.  Students will interview refugee services from Germany and meet local organizations in Connecticut.  Students will also analyze media representations as well as literature and films produced by and about refugees.
