FYS 1008 GENETIC ENGINEERING

Genetically Engineered (GE) plants, first sold in 1994, are now widely grown by US farmers. The course examines why and how plants are GE.  Students will discuss opposition to GE foods and evaluate evidence as to whether they pose a risk to human health or environmental safety.  Finally, students will learn about gene editing and how this technique is being used to edit plants, animals, and even humans.
