FLM 395K FOLK HORROR

This course closely examines the subgenre of horror known as Folk Horror, looking at its historical antecedents and its 21st century revival, primarily in film and television texts. Students will explore the ideological meanings circulating within these texts, wielding Scovell's "folk horror chain" in order to understand how this subgenre intersects with our present moment. Texts screened include: The Wicker Man, The Witch, Midsommar, The Feast, and She Will, among others.
