BIO 301 GENETICS

A study of the mechanisms of inheritance involving Mendelian principles, molecular mechanisms, mutation, and genetic change during evolution (population genetic principles). Laboratory exercises include Mendelian analyses; gene mapping; study of biochemical, developmental and DNA sequence variation; and experiments in population and quantitative genetics.

The course consists of three 50-minute or two 75-minute lectures per week, as well as one laboratory lasting 2 hours and 45 minutes.

Prerequisite

BIO 209 and either CHM 103 or CHM 107.

Corequisite

Registration is also required in Bio 301L

Enrollment limited to 14 students per laboratory section.
