ART 316 CERAMIC SCULPT:MOLDMKG/CASTING

Making molds from found objects or fabricated models, or replicating an original by casting, is a process that offers unique formal and conceptual opportunities for three-dimensional art. This is an intermediate-level studio course that introduces students to mold-making techniques for slip casting and pressing clay. Assignments are process or subject driven, introducing students to studio competencies that include clay mixing, glazing, and firing kilns. Students will be encouraged to develop their personal vision and imagination as they experiment with traditional and new technologies, plaster, clay, porcelain, and other materials.
