ANT 395 LAB ARCHAEOLOGY METHODS

Experiential training in foundational archaeological laboratory methods and techniques—sorting, artifact handling, identification, classification, and cataloging—as well as advanced methods used to collect measurement and nominal data. Training emphasis is placed on ethical laboratory practices and the application of controlled, rigorous, and replicable data collection techniques in the context of active and ongoing archaeological research projects in the College Arboretum and beyond. Project-specific training can include data analysis, interpretation, and presentation to general and specialized audiences. Training may occur in the Archaeology Labs at Connecticut College and/or at other facilities, including the labs of Tribal Historic Preservation Offices or the State Archaeologist.
