AHI 265 CURATING AMERICAN PRECISIONISM

Exploring American art of the 1930s and 1940s, this course focuses on New London artist Beatrice Cuming (1903-1974) and her depictions of regional industry. With lectures, discussions, and curatorial projects, students will help shape a 2024 exhibition about Cuming at the Lyman Allyn Art Museum. The course also considers how attitudes towards American industry and progress have shifted with concerns over environmental impact and the legacy of industrial architecture.
