HIS 333 RACIAL CAPITALSM: A GLOBAL HIS

What would it mean to understand capitalism as a global system of accumulation that necessarily depends on slavery, segregation, and apartheid? In other words, how can we conceive of unfreedom as a current and ongoing practice of control rather than a historical mistake from the past? This course examines key thinkers from the black radical tradition and the history of anti-colonialism who revealed the enduring connections between capital and unfree labor.
