FYS 1058 INTRODUCTION TO SONGWRITING
An exploration into why songs matter. Students will delve into the art and craft of songwriting; the fusion of words and music; the emotional power of melody and rhythm; the conventions of rhyme and prosody; and the music of poetry. Combining analysis with composition, the course culminates in a performance of original works by student songwriters.
Notes
The course has no prerequisites, but some knowledge of music is preferable.
