EAS 493E EAST ASIAN DIASPORA

An examination of the lived experiences of Asians living in diaspora throughout the world via their contributions to national and transnational cultures. Case studies will be drawn from examples such as Vietnamese, Chinese, and Japanese diasporic communities in the United States; Korean diaspora in Japan, Russia and China; Filipino diaspora in China and Japan; and Japanese diaspora in South America.

Prerequisite

EAS 101 or permission of the instructor. EAS 253 is recommended.

Registration Restrictions

Open to junior and senior majors in the department, and to others with permission of the instructor.
