CHI 411 ADVANCED CHINESE I

A seminar-style inquiry into a student’s personal research themes, making use of open educational resources. Topics may cover any socio-cultural-literary or scientific-technical-professional domains, and are pursued to supplement the student’s major/minor/center-directed study. Students will produce synoptic, analytic, and/or creative works in writing, speaking, and/or multimedia, and compile an individualized vocabulary of 1,000 entries.

Notes

Native Chinese speakers are encouraged to fulfill their World Languages and Cultures requirement by enrolling in CHI 401 and 402, where they may study a genre, speech variety, or writing system with which they were previously unacquainted.  Examples include Classical Chinese, traditional vs. simplified scripts, or any appropriate subject approved by the department.

Prerequisite

CHI 302 or equivalent.
