CHI 303 INTRODUCTION CLASSICAL CHINESE

Study of grammatical structure and glossary in excerpts of masterpiece prose writings dated from the pre-Han period. Learning activities include text analysis and recitation, discussion of philosophical thoughts, and memorization of four-character expressions. Similarities and differences between Old and Modern Standard Chinese will also be explored, through translation and oral presentation exercises. The course will be conducted entirely in Mandarin.
