Italian Studies Major

The major in Italian Studies consists of a total of nine courses beyond ITL 101 and ITL 102.  Seven courses must be selected from the list below and must include at least two courses at the 300 level or above taught in Italian. Two additional elective courses at any level may be selected from the list below or taken during a semester-long study away program in Italy with departmental approval. Students who are placed at a level beyond ITL 202 are expected to satisfy the nine-course requirement with upper-level courses in lieu of the intermediate sequence.

Students majoring in Italian Studies are expected to spend one semester during the junior year in Italy. Under exceptional circumstances, the department may approve equivalent courses.
