THE 350 INTERNATIONAL ARTS' DESIGN

This course serves as an advanced study in theatre, dance, and opera through the lens of international design. Students will engage with an in-depth evaluation of texts and elements of design, such as scenic, lighting, and costumes, that explores the contributions from a variety of nations to the arts. A cultural sampling may include work from Italy, Russia, South Africa, Japan, France, Spain, Germany, Latin America, Vietnam, Ireland, United Kingdom, and New Zealand, among others. Students will examine both the historical and modern contributions from these societies, and how they have helped shape our current understandings in regards to the arts.

This course fulfills the design requirement for the Theater major.

Prerequisite

It is recommended that students take either THE 110 or a 200-level design class.

Open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

Enrollment limited to 18 students.
