MUS 109 FILM MUSIC:PSYCHO TO STAR WARS

Beginning with the magnificent scores written by European composers for Hollywood in the 1930s, this course investigates the development of the symphonic film score up through John Williams. Topics include the ways that music is used in film, approaches to the analysis of music and sound in film, and key historical developments in film scores. Films and composers include The Sea Hawk (Korngold), Psycho (Hermann), King Kong (Steiner), and Star Wars (Williams). No prior musical experience required.
