Archives, Documents, and Power: Making History This seminar examines archives as sources of historical information and expressions of power and considers questions such as: What are archives? Who makes them? Who uses them? What can they tell us about the past? Students will explore these questions by reading and discussing theoretical work on archives, and then creating an archive for a recently formed New London non-profit. The course is highly recommended for history majors and anyone interested in how knowledge is produced.
