ES 201 PLATE TECTONICS

An advanced introduction to the theory of plate tectonics with emphasis on the geologic processes that create mountains, canyons, ocean basins, volcanoes, and earthquakes.  Topics include mineralogy, petrology, structural geology, and tectonic geomorphology.  Laboratory focuses on investigations of rock properties, geophysical data of plate motion, and local geologic field evidence of plate tectonics.
