ENG 132 AFRICA:FICTION AND HISTORY

This course introduces literatures of Africa in the historical context of the independence era. Novels will be read in relation to histories of empire and resistance and in light of post-colonial studies. Authors may include Achebe, Adichie, Armah, Bâ, Ben Jelloun, Bulawayo, Coetzee, Emecheta, Farah, Mahfouz, Ngugi, Okri, Sembène, and Soyinka.
