ART 236 PHOTOBOOK: CRAFT & EXPERIMENT

An introductory course that explores the various forms of a photobook, which generally emphasizes photographic content rather than text. Students will be introduced to a range of photobook-making methods, including the digital and handmade. Shorter- and longer-term projects will provide room for students creatively to explore traditional and experimental techniques to craft their photobook(s). Readings and discussions will increase contextual understandings, decisions, and the diverse implications for chosen methods of output and/or dissemination.  Knowledge of camera operation and image editing will be extremely beneficial.
