ANT 319 MEDICAL ANTHROPOLOGY
Conceptions of well-being, disease, and healing in a social and historical context. Examination of cross-cultural ethnographic research, including research on Western biomedicine. Representations and experiences of illness and sickness will also be understood in the context of access to health care, politics, and globalization.
Notes
This course many include an optional section that will meet for an additional hour each week to discuss supplemental readings in French. Students participating in the foreign language section will receive one additional credit hour, pass/not passed marking.
Prerequisite
One course in the social sciences.
