FYS 1089 DISABILITY: LIVED EXPERIENCE

This course exposes students to the lived experience of people with disabilities, offering an “insider perspective.” Throughout the semester, students will examine diverse personal narratives of those who live with disabilities through podcasts, video interviews, and in-person guest speakers. These presentations will help students grasp the impact disability can have on one’s identity, sometimes significant, sometimes minor, but always fluid in shaping the direction and quality of that person’s life. This course requires an open mind and a fresh perspective of viewing the world as students explore life through a disability lens.
