Drugs

The College’s drug policies are informed by federal, state, and local laws. The use, possession, or sale of illicit drugs or drug-related paraphernalia is strictly prohibited on Connecticut College campus property. Although Connecticut state law permits the use of medical and recreational marijuana (over 21 years of age), the use, possession, and/or cultivation of marijuana remains a crime under federal law (see the federal Drug Free Schools and Communities Act). As a recipient of federal funding, the College prohibits the use and/or possession of all federally-classified controlled substances, including marijuana. Therefore, the possession and/or use of marijuana in any form, even if accompanied by a medical prescription, is prohibited on all College property, in any College residential area, and/or during any College activity. The misuse and distribution of prescription drugs is also a violation of campus policy. Students are responsible for securing their own prescription medication. Prescribed medical marijuana is not permitted on campus by the federal Drug Free Schools and Communities Act. The College reserves the right to notify the appropriate law enforcement agency regarding illegal drug activity. Please consult the Student Handbook for the current illicit drug policy.
