SPA 225 TEACHING & LEARNING SPANISH

Practical skills for the teaching of Spanish, with techniques for fostering a communicative environment, language in context and community engagement. The course analyzes concepts of Foreign Language pedagogy, applied linguistics, bilingual education, International Baccalaureate, national standards, learning styles and interest-based education.  It provides assessment-based and student-designed creative activities, virtual observations, and teaching practica in local schools, and favors functional literacy over mastery.

Notes

This course may be taken at the 200, 300, or 400 level as requirements will vary depending on the level chosen.  State Certification reflects work done on the 300 or 400 level.  Students may not receive credit for SPA 325 and SPA 425, but may take SPA 225 and either SPA 325 or SPA 425.

Enrollment limited to 18 students.
