ITL 411 WITCHES, WENCHES, AND WARRIORS

This course examines female archetypal roles within Italian 16th century epic romances. Through a theoretical lens, the course investigates three archetypal characters: the witch, the “wench,” and the warrior. We will explore these figures’ roots in classical myth and their persistence in contemporary culture, with supplementary material from Game of Thrones, Wonder Woman, I am Malala, and others.
