GOV 225 STATES & MARKETS IN E ASIA

Intermediate course on East Asian political economy. An introduction to the basic political and economic institutions of major East Asian countries and an examination of the dynamics of the interactions between the two. Students will develop a general set of tools that can be used to analyze contemporary issues in East Asia.

This course may include an optional section that will meet for an additional hour each week to discuss supplemental readings in Chinese. Students participating in the foreign language section will receive one additional credit hour, pass/not passed marking.

Prerequisite

GOV 112 or GOV 113; or ECO 111 or ECO 112; or an introductory course in East Asian history, languages, and cultures.
