ENG 384 FRAMING MEDIEVAL DESIRE

A careful investigation of the three major examples of the medieval frame narrative, Eastern and Western: the Thousand and One Nights, the Decameron, and the Canterbury Tales, and modern literary and film works inspired by them. The course focuses on issues of desire, Muslim-Christian exchange, and appetites. Readings in modern English translation.
