This course examines the topic of inequality and poverty. What is inequality? How is it measured? What is the difference between income, consumption, and wealth inequality? Drawing on literature from economics, political science, and sociology, students will examine the evolution of inequality and poverty in the United States during the past century. Students will explore if there are discrepancies in inequality and poverty between different races, gender, and geography.
