CRE 206 THEOR, RACE, ETH & INDIGENEITY

A critical exploration of the formation of race, ethnicity, and Indigeneity within the United States, with specific attention to structures of power and inequality. The course is designed to be interdisciplinary utilizing frameworks from American Studies, History, and Native American and Indigenous Studies. Students will consider the tensions and intersections between Indigenous, decolonial, radical feminist, critical race, and Black radical theories of justice. They will examine the interplay of race and settler colonialism particularly as manifested through the interrelations of U.S. property claims over Indigenous territory and black bodies.
