BOT 340 FOREST CARBON AND GIS
Integrates fieldwork with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) using the QGIS software package for biomass and carbon estimates. The course includes vegetation classification using remote sensing, complemented by on-site tree identification and measurements to study forest structure. Case studies will be used to demonstrate lidar capabilities for carbon estimation over large areas.

Any 200-level course in botany, biology or environmental studies that includes a laboratory component; or ES/GEO 120 Living on a Changing Planet.
