ASL 101 ELEM AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE I

An introduction to American Sign Language (ASL), the principal system of manual communication among American deaf people. Fundamentals of grammar and structure, including topicalization, spatial indexing, directionality, classification, and syntactic body language, are covered. The course also serves as an introduction to American deaf culture through readings and discussion.
