Italian Studies Minor

The minor in Italian Studies consists of a minimum of five courses in language, culture, and literature.  Required courses are distributed as follows:

  • ITL 201 and ITL 202;
  • one 200-level upper intermediate course in Italian;
  • two literature and culture courses at the 300 level or higher, at least one of which must be taught in Italian.

Students are required to take at least one course in each of the two periods: Medieval/Early Modern and Modern/Contemporary. Students who test beyond the intermediate level are expected to take a minimum of five courses at the 220 level and higher. Students must receive departmental preapproval if they wish to substitute one required course with a course taken while on a Study Away program.

Two Italian Studies courses in literature and culture at the 300 level or higher.

Students are required to take at least one course in each of the two periods, Medieval/Early Modern Modern/Contemporary Italian, one of which must be taught in Italian. Students are expected to enroll in FLAC if offered.
