SOC 239 DISABILITY AND SOCIETY

This course introduces students to definitions and key concepts of disability studies within a sociological context.  Students will learn how various aspects of identity, such as race, class, gender, and citizenship status, intersect with disability in people's lived experiences.  Students will also learn about the movement for disability rights as part of the larger struggle for civil rights in the United States.
